Hi, my name is Vicky Hattingh. I started my crafting journey about 25 years ago when a friend introduced me to scrapbooking. Boy howdy was I hooked! Before I realized what happened, I had dedicated an entire room in my house to this new hobby and looked for reasons to take pictures so I could scrapbook them. I still have those scrapbooks somewhere, surely.

A few years ago, I started watching and following YouTube creators making greeting cards. I would watch those videos all the time. I didn’t own a single stamp or die set, but I loved watching the creators make their cards from start to finish. I was enthralled with the ink blending, water coloring, coloring with alcohol markers – you name it – I was soaking up the content.

​

Now I’m primarily a card maker, I once again have a room dedicated to my hobby/obsession – I call it my studio – and can’t wait for the weekend to come so I can dedicate some time making cards.

​

I get inspiration from the many talented card makers in the industry. There are so many creative people out there who enjoy sharing their love for the hobby and are excellent at teaching their techniques and skill for card making. I’ve learned so much from the YouTube creators and am humbled by their abilities.

I’m a geographic information systems specialist by day for the Department of Defense and avid card maker in the evenings. I can’t wait for the day to come when I can retire and make my card making hobby a new, full-time activity. I have an extremely supportive husband who, bless his heart, thinks every card I make is a masterpiece even though I know he’s biased and is looking at my creations through rose-colored glasses. I love him dearly.
