Day 9 | Spellbinders 13 Days of Craftoween

Hi friends!  I’m back to share my creation for Day 9 from the 2025 Spellbinders 13 Days of Craftoween kit.

I started today’s card by die cutting and assembling the individual pieces for the Day 9 trick-or-treat monster.  The type and colors of cardstock for each of the pieces were:

     Wings, Horns, Tail, Pitch Fork Die:  Scrapbook.com Black Glossy Cardstock

    Teeth & Eye Die:  Scrapbook.com White Glossy Cardstock

    Pumpkin Pail Die:  Spellbinders Carrot Cardstock

    Pail Handle, Eye Center, Pail Base:  Scrapbook.com Black Glossy Cardstock

    Monster Body Die:  My Favorite Things Boysenberry Cardstock

I used Villainous Potion Distress Ink to shade around the edges of the monster’s body and Crackling Campfire Distress Ink to shade around the pumpkin pail.

For my card front, I die cut a piece of Ranger/Tim Holtz Distress Black Two-Tone Woodgrain Cardstock using the Reverse Confetti “Double Stitch Window” cover die.  I cut a piece of Spellbinders Lilac (you could have just used white) cardstock to measure 4” x 4” and I ink blended the panel from top to bottom using Distress Inks in the colors Villainous Potion and Wilted Violet.  I placed the ink blended panel in my splat box and splattered Ranger’s Golden Hour Solar Spray and white gouache all over the panel to create a night sky.  Once the panel was dry, I adhered it to the back side of my black woodgrain card front so that the inky scene was visible and centered through the aperture.

Using the Spellbinders “Haunted House” die set, I die cut the moon, clouds, bats, and ghosts from scrap cardstock in my stash to build the scene for my night sky panel.  I did use a scrap of iridescent vellum that already have double sided adhesive applied to the back for the two little ghosts. Next, I added black foam squares to the back side of the monster and glued all the night sky scene pieces to the ink blended sky. 

For the sentiment, I used Spellbinders “All Seasons Autumn” Press Plate and Die Set, Spellbinders Opaque White Glimmer Foil, and the Glimmer Hot Foil System to hot foil the sentiments (which are all on one plate) onto a piece of black cardstock.  I die cut them using the all-in-one coordinating die from the set and chose to use the “trick or treat” sentiment for this card and glued it to the lower front of the card.

Day 8 | Spellbinders 13 Days of Craftoween

I started today’s card by die cutting my card front base layers.  I die cut a piece of black cardstock from my stash to measure 4-1/8” x 5-5/16” then I cut a piece of BOOkeh cardstock from Whimsy Stamps to measure 4” x 5-3/16”.  I glued those two layers together and adhered them to an A2 top folding, white card base.

Next, I die cut one piece of black glossy cardstock using the Gina K. Design’s “Circle Windows Plate Die” and die cut it twice more out of plain black cardstock.  I glued all three layers together and then glued them to the card front.

Using the Day 8 dies from the 2025 Spellbinders Craftoween kit, I die cut the following dies out the cardstock listed beside it:

Skull Mug:  Spellbinders Antique Glitter Metallic Treasured cardstock

    Straw:  Spellbinders Carrot cardstock and Violet cardstock

    Tombstone:  Spellbinders Anchor cardstock

    Bat Pick:  Spellbinders Brush Metallic cardstock

    Eyes, Nose, Teeth, and Mug Contents:  Glossy cardstock from my stash

    Marshmallows:  Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Velvet Snow White Luxury Cardstock

I glued all the die cut layers for the mug together using Bearly Art glue and set those aside to dry.  I also die cut three of the ghost dies from Spellbinders Antique Matte Metallic Treasured cardstock.  Using the Spellbinders “Witch on Broom” die set, I die cut the smallest bat three times and the medium bat once from Spellbinders Anchor cardstock.

For my sentiment, I stamped the “cheers to SPOOKY SIPS” onto a piece of Spellbinders Rainforest cardstock using VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink and heat embossed it with WOW! Clear Gloss Superfine Embossing Powder to give the sentiment a bit of shine.  Next, I used the ticket die from the Sizzix “Collector” die set to cut out the sentiment and applied Distress Black Soot ink to the edges of the ticket using a tiny foam ink blending tool.

I glued all the die cut elements to the card front, added Glossy Accents to the gray bats, and added some green gems that I’ve had in my stash for about ten years – I went gem crazy, but I like it!

Day 7 | Spellbinders 13 Days of Craftoween

I started today’s card by cutting a piece of Simon Says Stamp “Smoke Grey” cardstock to measure 4-1/4” x 5-1/2”.  I then placed the cardstock panel into my stamping platform and using Hero Arts’ “In the Valley” stamp and VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink, I stamped the scripty text onto the grey cardstock.  After the pigment ink dried, I used a foam blending tool to apply Distress Black Soot Ink to the edges of the card panel.

Using the Spellbinders Fall Label Motifs die set, I die cut the base layer from vellum, the trellis layer from Distress Gray Two-Tone Woodgrain cardstock, the berries were from Spellbinders Merlot and Truffle cardstock, and the greenery was from Spellbinders Fern and Fawn cardstock.  I glued the woodgrain trellis to the vellum and then glued this element to the center of the card front.

Using the Day 7 Craftoween dies, I die cut the books from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology “Abandoned” patterned paper pack, the book pages from Spellbinders Antique Pearl Metallic Treasured cardstock, and the spine covers were die cut from Spellbinders Merlot and Cinnamon cardstocks.  The candles were die cut from Spellbinders Brushed Black cardstock accented with Nuvo Ebony Black Crystal Drops and the flames cut from Spellbinders Saffron cardstock accented with Golden Sunset Nuvo Glitter Drops.  I arranged the greenery and berries on the card front then positioned the books with the candles in a pleasing location then began carefully gluing all the elements to the card front – the books with the candles was popped up on foam tape squares.

I found a sentiment that I had foiled and die cut from Day 6’s card project that said “Happy Haunting” and I glued it to the front of the books.  Lastly, I added Picket Fence Studio “Day and Night” gemstones to the upper left and lower right corners of the card front and with that – the card project is completed!
